Hello Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to our class blog. :)
Students will start the IOWA test tomorrow and test through Wednesday, September 21st. If you want to send in a handwritten note for your child to read before testing, feel free to do so.
I'd like to reward the students for their hard work on Wednesday by having pizza and juice in the classroom. Please send in $2 by Tuesday, September 20th.
Our class field trip is on the verge of being cancelled because not enough permission slips have been returned. Please turn these in ASAP. Thank you to those parents who have done so already.
We will begin our multiplication quizzes next week. Students will be given flashcards on Monday with their homework and take a 3 minute timed quiz on Friday. If they pass, they will move on. If they do not pass, they will take the same test the following week. Students are working towards an ice cream sundae.
Here is what we've been learning in the class:
Math:
Adding/subtracting within 1,000 (See pictures below; we studied the artist John Jasper and created our own artwork.)
Multiplication
Reading:
Fables, folktales, myths, moral
Character traits, feelings, and motivation
Science:
Soil (See pictures below; we completed Worms in the Dirt to review the different layers of soil)
